A general purpose sand which has a multitude of uses. 

Can be used as:

• a component for mixing concrete
• a jointing sand to be swept in between pavers for pave jointing at the end of your paving project
• a mortar sand
• a turf or lawn sand for sports fields and home grasses to increase drainage
• a landing medium of sand for school long jump pits

This sand, commonly referred to as #1 sand, is grey-coloured river sand, which is widely used in the building industry.

Size: Graded between 0.15mm - 2.36mm

When used as a paver jointing sand some contractors also order bags of cement and mix it at a ratio of 6 parts sand to 1 part cement (must let the building sand dry first on a good day) and brush them together in between the pavers. The cement then sets creating a hardened mortar / joint between pavers over time. Of course you can wet down the gaps also after sweeping the sand and cement mix in the gap to hasten the process as well.
